Alex Miller is an artist and teacher based in the small town of Greencastle, Pennsylvania. Since receiving his BA in Art Education from Shippensburg University in 2007 he has been teaching Art at the Elementary level and acting as the district’s K-12 Art Department chair. During his undergraduate studies Alex focused on abstract oil paintings and on ceramic sculptures and vessels. His work often focuses on the complex interaction between the small pieces used in constructing a sculpture, and the resulting whole form. Alex is also an avid motorcyclist and can often be seen toting his pots to and from campus on the back of his motorcycle. His affinity for clay was cultivated early by his grandfather who himself was a potter and teacher. 2010 Marked the beginning of Alex’s graduate work at Hood College where he is currently pursuing an MFA in Ceramic Arts.
